Teacher's Pet

We went to Student-Led Conferences today. I'm thrilled with how things are going for Peirce in school. He loves it and his teacher seems to think that his learning is right on target. It was really fun to have him show me everything in his classroom. When we got home I was telling him how much I enjoyed going to his classroom and how proud of him I am for the nice boy he's becoming. We talked for a few minutes and he told me that he thinks he's his teacher's favorite. I told him that that wouldn't surprise me at all - but why does he think he's the favorite? He said that he is always the first on the attendance and the first on this list and the first on that list.

I smiled to myself. Should I tell him about alphabetical order? Nah! Every kid should think they're their kindergarten teacher's favorite. :0)

Adorable!

Now, tell me more about STUDENT led conferences. We have parent led conferences at the beginning of the year where we tell all about our child...likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, etcetera.

Student led conferences are done at report card time once a year. The teacher helps the children prepare some special things to show the parents. The teacher gave us an agenda and we went around to different centers, looked at his scrapbook and his file of work, he showed us how their day unfolds, etc. It's a way for the kids to show off and share what they like about school. It's done instead of parent-teacher interviews for one of the reporting periods - although if you want a regular parent-teacher interview with the teacher you can schedule it for another time.
