Bronze!

Peirce loves being on the curling team. Today they earned a bronze in the city finals! It came right down to the very last rock.

Yea team!

After, he and I went to Smash Burger to celebrate. I know he doesn't look excited, but he was!

Family Day and Happy 26th To Us!

Jill was away in Toronto this past weekend for a job interview. She got back in time for Family Day though so we decided to go to a cool new place, The Hexagon. It's a coffee-shop type place where you can also play board games. They're part of Calgary's hot chocolate contest right now. We had PB&J hot chocolate. Not bad!

Also, it was our anniversary today! It seems right to have our anniversary on Family Day. My dear husband surprised me with some DIAMOND earrings! So fancy!

Saturday Lunch Fun

Gaylene and Duane came to town for Heidi's wedding. We went out for lunch on Saturday at Yakima. Love that place! It is at the airport (door #13) and they have valet parking right at the door. You can park there for four hours. That's quite a deal in our find city. Our claim to fame is the most expensive parking in North America. Yea us. Lunch at Yakima is never a disappointment. It was great to visit with Duane and Gaylene!

From Brandon's insta feed! Congrats!

Valentine's Day

What a wonderful surprise this morning to wake up to some Valentine's Day flowers! I have the best valentine. I had chocolate for him.

School is a fun place on Valentine's Day. A few years ago we decided no more treats at school. Basically, it came down to the rule that parents should be the ones to decide what their kids eat and not be subject to all the treats others bring to school to share. This means on Valentine's Day we just share cards. Sometimes some kids add other surprises like erasers or pencils. I have been amazed at the difference though. When they used to bring candy, every single valentine came with a sugar treat. By the end of our celebration, the sugar buzz was palpable. Now that we don't have sugar treats everyone sits and reads their valentines and laughs about the jokes and just enjoys each other. It's so lovely! One thing we also did was we made electronic valentines for parents with a list of 10 things we love about them.  To practice we made one about ten things we love about our school. You can listen to it here

I will email the valentines to parents with a delay delivery set up so that they arrive the morning of Valentine's Day. Can't wait to see what they think. I have a feeling they will love it!

Math Wizard

For a lot of years, math has been Peirce's nemesis. He's really gained some good study skills the last year or so and I've been telling him I know that he can do a great job in math. This is his last semester of high school - so one last big hurdle to jump. Math! It's going well so far.

Master Mind Group

For about a year now, I've been meeting with the most fabulous women once a month. We get together and talk about how our last month went and how we did on our goals and what our goals are for next month. I've been so inspired by them. It has been a wonderful experience.

Each year, each of picks a word of the year. My word this year is revelation because I want to get better at receiving and recognizing personal revelation. Laura made stitchery samples for each of us with our word of the year. Isn't that wonderful! I love those ladies.

53!

Wow. I'm 53 now. I still can't believe I'm this old.

One thing is for sure, celebrating a birthday in an elementary school is one of the best places. Everyone is truly excited to wish you happy birthday. I was sung to about 5 times. I gave my class the night off for homework. It was a great day!

Tonight, the kids made dinner and Jill made an angel food cake. Yum!! I received some hair product that I love, a game and a new vacuum. Yea!!! I can't wait to use it.

I didn't take any pictures though. Silly me.

First Vision Symposium

For my birthday, Jill bought us tickets to go to a First Vision Symposium. Who even knew this was a thing! Apparently, there are some members of the church that organize lectures about once a quarter. This month it was a church history professor from BYU named Steven Harper. I love that kind of stuff. It was super fun to do it together!

I asked the lady in charge to put me on her mailing list. Here's hoping she did!
