Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear (Andy Stanton)

This is a story of a mean man named Mr. Gum who makes a bear dance. The bear is unhappy so a little girl helps him run away. We did enjoy the principal that was actually a Gingerbread cookie...a fleeting almost funny moment. That's about it.

Peirce found this book at the library and with the great reviews on the back it sounded like a winner. It claims to be laugh out loud funny and one of those books adults and children can enjoy. The author is acclaimed as the current Roald Dahl. Peirce LOVES Roald Dahl so I figured this would be a hit.

There are some funny moments....but far from side splitting funny.

Peirce never laughed out loud once. And I sure don't want to read it again. As a matter of fact, I don't think we'll read a Mr. Gum book again.

Maybe it's a British humor thing. I don't know.
